Why to split aces

Basic blackjack strategy says that since there are more tens in play than any other value, the chances of drawing a ten are much higher. Since the ace counts as either 1 or 11 points, then drawing a ten would automatically win a blackjack. A pair of aces is the best possible hand to have for splitting because the payouts of a blackjack are 3:2 rather than 1:1.

Aces are rarer to get than tens. In some cases, you can split aces and then get two more aces. This means it may be possible to split again and hope for four blackjacks. These are the most exciting hands to get with the best mathematical odds in blackjack.
